Sensei
Michael Malandra
began his martial arts training at the age of 10. His early teachings
originated with his father, Donald A. Malandra, a Martial Art Master
Instructor and practitioner with over 50 years of experience in the
arts. Michael has built upon this solid foundation; studying Karate, Tae
Kwon Do, Judo, and Jiu-Jitsu and has been fortunate to learn from many
other talented, master instructors.
Certified in many different
areas of martial arts, Michael holds a 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon
Do and Shin Jitsu Kai Kan, a 3rd degree black belt in Chung Do Kwan, and
a 5th degree black belt in Mushin Do a modern-day, practical system he
co-developed with Donald Malandra and Lester Rudnick. Furthermore,
Michael is also a recognized personal protection specialist and
routinely works as a celebrity bodyguard for Brave Lion Productions.
Michael Malandra is also the
co-founder and developer of REACT Programs, a personal safety course
designed to empower women and children through lectures and hands-on
training. As part of this program, Michael travels extensively
throughout the United States conducting various courses with co-founder,
Walter S. Goldman. Most importantly, a portion of all REACT Programs are
donated back to the sponsoring organizations.
Currently, Michael is the
President and Senior Instructor of Malandra’s Martial Arts Center in
Suffern. The school, which has been in existence since 1985, provides
professional martial arts instruction to children and adults. They teach
the arts not only as a means of self-defense, but also as a means of
personal development and growth. The success of his school stems from
this philosophy and Michael’s strong, leadership traits.
