The following questions have
been asked repeatedly by people inquiring about martial arts training
and our school - we hope you find this information helpful. Please feel
free to pick up the phone and call us at 845-368-0995 or
send us an e-mail if you need some more information.
Q:
What type of martial arts do you teach?
A: We teach the style of Mushin Do, a system
derived from both Korean and Japanese disciplines.
Q:
Do I need to sign any
contracts?
A: NO, we do not have contracts! At Malandra's Martial Arts Center, we
believe that a student should never be "locked into" a long-term
agreement. If our instructors do their job teaching, our students will
stay with us because of the training. Your commitment
is to your training―not a long-term contract!
Q:
When do classes begin and how do I get started?
A: Classes are ongoing, year-round. Students can try our programs at
anytime.
Q:
At what age do you accept children into your program?
A: We begin training children at age 4. Children between the ages of 4-5
are enrolled into our Kinder Karate Program.
At age 6, they enroll into our Youth Martial
Arts Program.
Q:
Am I too old or out of shape to try your program?
A: Absolutely not! You can start training at any age, regardless of the
shape you are in. Everyone works at their own level and pace. Safety is
always our number one priority, if an exercise or activity feels
uncomfortable, you are not required to do it.
Q:
Do you offer any introductory specials?
A: We sure do! Check out our special website
offer!
Q:
How many instructors are
there per class?
A: There are always at least 2 instructors in the Dojo at all times - a
head & assistant instructor.
Q:
How often do students test?
A: Testing is held two times per year. When a student completes all the
necessary requirement for their next level they become eligible to test.
Q:
My child is very shy and has
had problems with bullying in school, how will your program benefit
her/him?
A: Students continuously improve their self-esteem and self-confidence
levels through martial arts training. We also help our students deal
with these situations through class discussions and role-playing
exercises.
